The sheriff’s office said on Sunday, around 3 p.m., they were contacted about a person who had gone missing on the Feather River. The missing person, who has been identified as Jason Stingle, 43, of Redmond, Washington, was with a group of kayakers and was finishing the last part of the kayaking trip when Stingl slipped on a rock and fell into the water between Kellog Ravine and Devils Canyon.

Authorities are still searching for a man who disappeared into a Northern California river over Memorial Day weekend. Jason Stingl, 43, of Redmond, Washington, was with a group of kayakers nearing the end of their trip along the Feather River in Butte County last Sunday when he “slipped on a rock and fell into the water” somewhere between Kellogg Ravine and Devils Canyon, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Search and rescue efforts were launched that afternoon, with a helicopter deployed by the sheriff’s office combing the area from the sky, but they were unable to find Stingl. He is 5-foot-10, approximately 150 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes.
