Sad news from Virginia this past weekend. Three young people put on the James River Saturday sometime late afternoon. It appears they were on the Balcony Falls section.Exact details have not come out, but we know one girl flipped her kayak and swam. Another tried to help but also got in trouble.
From here all we know is two were rescued by local Search & Rescue Team and the other girl couldn’t be found. She was found Sunday 6ft underwater. No PFD and no wet or dry suit. The other two were treated Saturday for hyperthermia. The word was they were in recreational kayaks with no experience. This 20 year old girl’s parents are devastated and asking how could this happen.
