A Romney man drowned Wednesday in the South Branch near Springfield when his kayak capsized and he was pulled under the water.

William “Bill” Douglas Moon III, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene after his body was discovered a half-mile downstream from where he was last scene, West Virginia State Police said.
