There was another drowning on the Saint-Charles river in Valleyfield, Quebec. It was not in the well known slalom section but several kilometers downstream, at a Bridge named Pont Masson. The victim was on a SUP, not wearing his PFD and using an ankle leash. I haven<t paddled the section myself, but based on what I heard and on the pictures in news article I would consider the difficulty class 1-2. The Saint Charles River releases through 2 pipes, so the level never really changes, depending on the height of the pool of the lake above it may change by a couple of inches. The victim apparently fell off his SUP at near the Pont Masson Bridge and his SUP got pinned against a bridge pillar. Due to the current the victim was not able to release the ankle leash. The person that was with the victim was able to swim to shore.
