Lauren, Charles - There was a fatality today at the Nantahala. Block rock above the falls. Ducky became pinned and male swam the falls. Commercial trip with NOC

Tim Ray - Unconscious swimmer on the Nantahala in the area of the falls. Swimmer was pulled out near Rivers End restaurant and CPR and AEA administered. CPR was still being administered as they were transported by ambulance. 

Here's the basics till an official report comes out. Source of info is very solid. NOC guest, male, late 50s. Got out of pinned duck, appeared to be ok. Clutched chest, fell face down in water. Ruled heart attack. 

Via Messenger: A unconscious man was pulled from below nantahala falls. He could have been in the water for somewhere between 5-8 minutes. He was a rental ducky guest. He was spotted by NOC rental take out staff 75 yards above the noc takeout. Whistle blown 3 times, and staff said “person is unconscious” while still in the water, NOC staff rushed out into the river and pull him out the river on the river right below rivers end restaurant. NOC staff and ed guided trip guest who is a paramedic performed CPR and AED for 10 minutes until EMS shows up. by this point he was showing no signs of life. blue, cold, and stiff. EMS continued CPR and AED for 20 minutes, and loaded him into the ambulance while still unconscious. 30 mins in and no signs of life, they take him away. 
 
 
 
 
 
NOC staff was in a “rescue duck” at the rental trip take out, and she was in the water before she blew the whistle.
