THE DALLES, Ore. -- Crews located the body of a drowning victim in the Deschutes River on Tuesday who fell out of a raft in rapids. They were working to recover the body of Eligio Santos, according to the Wasco County Sheriff's Office. On Sunday, the sheriff's office received a report from Alberto Santos that his 30-year-old son had fallen from a raft on the Deschutes River and had not surfaced.

The accident happened at the top of Wapinitia Rapids. Eligio Santos was one of nine people on the raft. He was not wearing a life-jacket, authorities said. It was the third accident in the area of the Wapinitia Rapids area this year.
