TWO RAFT GUIDES DIE IN COLORADO
Two professional raft guides died on Colorado rivers in 1993.
On July 1, a guide on the Poudre River apparently broke his neck when his raft flipped in Pineview Rapid, a solid class IV+ drop. He swam to shore, tried to stand up, then collapsed and fell face-down in the water. The first and last boat of his four-boat trip flipped, slowing rescue efforts.
