Accident Description

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. —Rescue crews are still searching for a missing man in the Conewago Creek in Washington Township, York County. The missing man that crews are searching for has been identified by his family as 41-year-old Jerry Reisinger. Emergency crews arrived on the scene around 3:30 p.m. on the 6500 block of Davidsburg Road on Thursday. A state police helicopter and other officials resumed the search on Friday morning.Authorities say the man was fishing with another man at the Conewago Creek on Thursday. The two men were operating a flat-bottom boat and towing another boat that was loaded with gear. Officials say the pair lost control of the boat as they were approaching a low-head dam. While trying to maneuver the boat, one of them got caught up in the current. Crews were able to rescue one of them on Thursday afternoon.

Update: As of Sunday, June 29, the body of 41-year-old Jerry Reisinger was recovered from the creek.

pennlive.com on June 29, 2014 York County Coroner Pam Gay said a male body was pulled from the Conewago Creek in Washington Township on Sunday afternoon, which she believes is that of a boater who went missing on Thursday. Gay said she would give the family some time to grieve before she releases the dead man's name between 5:30-6 p.m. The coroner was called to Colonial and Davidsburg Road around 11:43 a.m Sunday, according to dispatchers. Gay, who did not know who discovered the body, said it was pulled from the creek about 90 minutes after representatives from the her office arrived to the scene. An autopsy will follow, Gay said.

Fox 43 news is reporting that two teenage fisherman called 911 after they found the body floating face down Sunday morning. Emergency crews began searching for a boater on the Conewago Creek after he went missing around 3 p.m. Thursday near Davidsburg Road in Dover Township. Two men were fishing in the the creek on Thursday before they were thrown from their boat as it went over a low-head dam, according to prior news reports. One of the men was able to make it to shore, reports said.
