Accident Description

June 12th, 2010 – Pine Creek Rapid: David Luck (39 Y.O.A, male) was a passenger on a 14’ Hyside paddle raft. It was a solo boat private trip. While navigating Pine Creek Rapid (class V) all occupants were ejected (dump trucked) from the raft when it hit a large hole. Other occupants lost sight of David as they struggled to self rescue. David was recovered from the river 8.05 miles downstream. CPR and ALS resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. River flow was 2,190 cfs. Commercial raft trips in this rapid are not conducted above 1,250 cfs.
