A man who set out to float the Deschutes River is presumed drowned after his tube capsized, authorities say. The Wasco County Sheriff’s Office said authorities searched for Jonathan Jensen of The Dalles on Sunday and Monday but were unsuccessful. He was last seen Sunday in the Moody Rapids area of the famous river. The search will continue, the sheriff’s office said late Monday afternoon.

The agency said it received a report about 5:45 p.m. Sunday that a tube carrying Jensen had capsized and that he was last seen standing in the river. Jensen, 36, was gone when his group returned to help him, according to the sheriff’s office. The Moody Rapids are a Class III section of river that features large waves and turbulent channels, according to a river map. They’re near the Deschutes River State Recreation Area and Heritage Landing boat launch and day use area.

Deputies urge anyone who has information or finds Jensen to call 541-296-5454.
