Pequannock
Macopin Dan to 287, Riverdale
Trip Reports
Log in to add a reportAt 200CFS and up the river is fun to do. I can only speak for the lower portion starting at Elizabeth St. and Hamburg turnpike in Bloomingdale and ending up in Pompton lakes just under the Hamburg turnpike over pass. There are 2 downed trees 1 which you should be able to go over and the other just fell and we had to go around it on the left hand side. The second tree is just after the 287 under pass. PIcs to come soon.
punching a small hole
low level, but just enough to have some fun
just a lil shoulder shuttle back up to the car
it was a low day, but still enough flow to have some fun
level was 3.30' on the Macopin Intake Dam gauge...seems like anything at or above 4' would be best
just a lil shoulder shuttle back up to the car
The level at the USGS gauge located at Macopin Intake Dam was 4' and it looks like this correlates to about a foot less downstream.
Just thought I would add this photo of a tight and steep tributary of the Pequannock just above the railroad tracks that run along the river. This is located about 60 yards downstream from the Hamburg Turnpike Bridge.
This is probably the best put-in to run the Pequannock...it is located off the Paterson Hamburg Turnpike when it goes underneath Rt. 23 just south of the macopin intake dam and Butler resevoir.
this is a little bit up river from the put-in underneath Rt. 23...forgot to mention there is a dirt parking area right along the river here with access through an opening in the guard rail
I haven't done any research, but it looks like these falls are created from the remains of a dam from and old mill. They are located just past a railroad bridge and right next to an apartment complex with plenty of parking.
Waterfall court at about 400 cfs. Main line catches (river) right of small bit of whitewater above falls and boofs over drop. Scout (obviously) as wood is a possibility.
Main street dam showing recirc at low/medium water. At high water this is a killer.
Launch at senior center.
Main street dam from bridge at about as high as most would think about running. Portage on river right.
