Sauk
3 - Darrington to Skagit River

Log in to add an alertJust ran the Darrington/Sauk Prairie Road Bridge (SPRB) to the Sauk River Bridge portion of this section between 5200cfs and 5000cfs. We started at the Sauk Prairie Road Bridge (near the logging mill) because there are severe logjams at this bridge and just immediately upstream of the bridge. The river right channels just immediately above the bridge are completely blocked as can be observed from the bridge. There may be passable channels river left, but I couldn’t tell for certain with a lazy scout from the bridge parking lot. Otherwise from bridge to bridge was beautiful with little hazard given paddlers have good channel selection. See photo of SPRB river right logjam in Gallery.
There are two dangerous spots on this run where you may be forced into logs. Both are within the first mile below the mill. Take it slow through this section. Below this, the river seems to be repairing itself and deepening channels.
