Sullivan Creek

2. N. Fork Sullivan to Hwy 31 (Gorge)

The rapids on Sullivan Creek are overall cleaner of wood than in the past couple years. There is still lots of wood dodging required and plenty that could shift around when the water raises.

The falls (last big drop) is mostly wood free and can be run from top to bottom. I have been walking two rapids but the entire run could be done without portages

Sullivan Creek at 600cfs, moving dam removal related sediment.

The fall of 2009 offered unusually low water releases from Sullivan Dam, but the creek still provided a great opportunity for some early fall paddling.

This is a great Class IV-V run only 100 miles from Spokane. It can be run almost year round and is runnable when most everything else in the area is dry. Most of the major obstacles have been cleared, but scouting is highly advised, as the Gorge is truly Class V and consequences of a missed line can be severe. There is a good scouting/portage trail along the left side of the gorge.

This section has been destroyed by floods. Rocks have been re-arranged making many drops unrunnable. Not worth the effort.

'The Tooth' is a fun triple-drop rapid in the middle of the Gorge Section of Sullivan. Stay right of the pyramid-shaped rock on the last drop that gives this rapid its name.
Itchy & Scratchy is the last Class V finale as you exit the gorge. The takeout is just around the corner after about another 1/4 mile of Class IV boogie water.

This rapid can be run on either side, depending on water levels, but take a look and watch out for wood!
