In many ways the Northeast is the birthplace of AW's River Stewardship Program. Throughout the 90's, AW volunteers and staff used new legislation to gain recreational releases on the Kennebec, Deerfield, Moose, Penobscot, Black, Beaver, and Rapid rivers, just to name a few. The list of rivers protected and restored through AW efforts in the region keeps growing, and our Deerfield Festival remains a major community celebration of all the paddlers have - and can - accomplish in the region.
