Tuckasegee, West Fork
Thorpe Dam to Thorpe Powerhouse on Tuckasegee Reservoir(WF Tuck)
Alerts
Log in to add an alertDuke Energy has announced that the generators on the West Fork Tuck are down for 2 months, so expect unpredictable releases into the WFT gorge for lake level management. The scheduled WFT releases into the gorge will happen as planned.
Lake Glenville is lower than the Normal Target Elevation to test the spillway gates. The lake is expected to be down between 88.0 and 88.5 feet on Dec. 1 and for approximately two weeks. The releases from the dam into the bypassed reach during the spillway gate testing could occur at different intervals and are not designed as a recreation release. (flows will likely be below 150 cfs and only last for moments). WARNING: high flows and the natural environment of the bypassed reach can create dangerous conditions. Fishermen should be alert to rapidly changing flow and dangerous conditions. For information on current lake levels and conditions, please visit duke-energy.com/lakes, call 800.829.5253, or the Duke Energy Lake View mobile app.
The planned outage on the West Fork Tuck that would have caused some natural flow during June has been postponed. It will now be a longer outage in the fall - I'll keep folks posted. The scheduled West Fork Tuck release this Saturday 6/6/20 is ON.
