Cispus River Take-out Open This Weekend

The gate at the take-out for the Lewis County PUD will be open this weekend (May 22/23). The gate will be opened from approximately 10 am to 6 pm by PUD staff. While the take-out is available for walk-in access throughout the year you can only take your shuttle rig down to the take-out if you obtain a key from the PUD or during these scheduled weekends. The California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) has issued a 21 day notice that they will respond to the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) recommending that the releases on the Pit River, above the Pit 1 Powerhouse, should be canceled this summer. Recently, American Whitewater teamed up with the good folks at Riverlink, the Nantahala Outdoor Center and a bunch of super volunteers to do a cleanup on the French Broad River in North Carolina. Heavy winter flows had unfortunately pushed a large amount of trash into the river.
